Are you looking for a relaxing getaway that’s off the beaten path? Look no further than Kurokawa Onsen, a hidden gem tucked away in the mountains of Kumamoto.

Kurokawa Onsen is known for its natural hot springs, which are said to have healing properties for the body and mind. There are over 30 different onsens in the town, each with its own unique qualities and atmosphere. From outdoor baths surrounded by nature to indoor baths with stunning views, there’s a hot spring for everyone to enjoy.

And if you’re feeling adventurous, be sure to check out the rotenburo (露天風呂), or outdoor bath. There’s nothing quite like soaking in a hot spring while surrounded by nature, and the views from the local rotenburo are truly breathtaking.

If you are lucky, you may find yourself as the only person in the hot spring! When I went at night, I happened to be the only one in the bath! I spent a long time relaxing under the open air.

One of the best things about Kurokawa Onsen is the traditional Japanese atmosphere. The streets are lined with old-fashioned buildings and there are plenty of opportunities to try local food and sake. It’s the perfect place to get a taste of authentic Japanese culture while also indulging in some much-needed relaxation.

From outdoor adventure to relaxing at the spa!

Relaxation doesn’t stop at the hot springs. Kurokawa Onsen also offers a variety of spa treatments, including massage, facials, and aromatherapy. Treat yourself to a hot stone massage or a relaxing facial to truly unwind and rejuvenate.

If you’re feeling adventurous, there are also plenty of outdoor activities to enjoy in the area. Take a hike in the mountains or visit one of the nearby waterfalls for a refreshing dip. Or, if you prefer something a little more low-key, simply take a leisurely stroll through the town and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.

No matter what you choose to do, Kurokawa Onsen is the perfect destination for anyone looking to escape the stresses of daily life and relax in a beautiful, natural setting. So pack your bags, grab your swimsuit, and get ready to unwind in one of Japan’s most beautiful onsen towns.
